How Turkey eVisa Eligibility Works

Turkey’s visa policy divides countries into several categories:

• Visa-free countries – citizens can enter Turkey without any visa for short stays
• eVisa-eligible (standard) – citizens can obtain an eVisa online with no additional conditions
• eVisa-eligible (conditional) – citizens can obtain an eVisa only if they meet specific requirements
• Sticker visa required – citizens must apply at a Turkish embassy or consulate

The eVisa is available to citizens of over 100 countries, but the specific conditions and allowed duration of stay vary by nationality.

Standard eVisa Countries (No Additional Conditions)

Citizens of the following countries can apply for a Turkey eVisa with no additional requirements beyond a valid passport. These nationalities typically receive a multiple-entry eVisa valid for 180 days with a stay of up to 90 days:

Conditional eVisa Countries (Additional Requirements)

Citizens of the following countries can apply for a Turkey eVisa only if they meet specific conditions. These nationalities receive a single-entry eVisa valid for 180 days with a maximum stay of 30 days:

Understanding the Conditional Requirements

If your country is listed under conditional eVisa eligibility, you must satisfy all of the following:

1. Supporting Visa or Residence Permit

You must hold a valid, non-electronic visa or residence permit from one of:

• A Schengen Area country (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland)
• Ireland
• United Kingdom
• United States

Important: Electronic visas and e-residence permits from these countries are not accepted. Only physical (sticker) visas and residence permits qualify as supporting documents.

2. Approved Airline

Citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and the Philippines must travel on airlines approved by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Egyptian citizens may also fly on EgyptAir.

3. Hotel Reservation

You must have a confirmed hotel booking in Turkey for the duration of your stay.

4. Financial Proof

You must demonstrate you have at least $50 USD per day of your planned stay in Turkey.

5. Airport Restrictions

Citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Zambia, and the Philippines may not use their conditional eVisa for arrival at Istanbul Airport. They must arrive at other Turkish airports.

Visa-Free Countries (No eVisa Needed)

Citizens of many countries can enter Turkey without any visa for short stays. These travelers simply need a valid passport and can stay for varying durations (typically 30 to 90 days). Major visa-free nationalities include:

• European Union member states (most)
• Schengen Area countries
• Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and other Latin American countries
• Japan, South Korea, Singapore
• Russia, Ukraine, Georgia
• Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia
• United States, Canada

How to Check Your Eligibility

The quickest way to check your eligibility is:

• Go to the official Turkish eVisa portal at www.evisa.gov.tr
• Click “Apply”
• Select your country of travel document
• Select your travel document type (ordinary passport, diplomatic, etc.)
• The system will immediately tell you whether you’re eligible for an eVisa, what conditions apply, and the fee

eVisa vs. Visa on Arrival

Some nationalities eligible for the eVisa were previously able to obtain a visa on arrival at Turkish airports. However, the Turkish government strongly recommends applying for the eVisa before travel. Citizens of the following countries can obtain an eVisa but are not eligible for visa on arrival:

If your country is not listed as eVisa-eligible or visa-free, you must apply for a traditional sticker visa at the nearest Turkish embassy or consulate. This process typically involves:

• Scheduling an appointment at the embassy
• Submitting an application form with supporting documents
• Attending an interview (in some cases)
• Waiting 5-15 business days for processing
• Paying a higher fee than the eVisa
